NCR shine despite the weather

Saintfield 5K and 10K
The inclement weather conditions did not deter Peter Simpson who participated in the 5K event at Saintfield on Saturday with an excellent time of 25:02.  Evelyn Marsh also participated in Saintfield 10K in 1 hour (unofficial time as no time was available at time of report).  Well done to both.
NIMAA XC Trial & Championships
Pat Rocks, Aidan Murray, Chris Devine, Laura Devine, Eva Kitchen and Patricia Brown all travelled to ‘Queens Playing Fields’, to participate in the NIMAA XC Trial & Championships.
Horrid would not have described the torrential rain & windy conditions that all the competitors faced.  Pat Rocks, Laura Devine, Eva Kitchen and Patricia Brown all completed a 6K race which consisted of 3 laps whilst Aidan Murray and Chris Devine completed 8K, which was 4 laps.  All had excellent times:
8K – Christopher Devine 26:47 (first in category), Aidan Murray 29:07
6K – Pat Rocks 24:57, Laura Devine 25:11, Eva Kitchen 26:12 and Patricia Brown (who was returning after injury) 26:26.
I can also report that Patricia Brown came first in her category and has been selected/earned her place on the Northern Ireland team for the XC Championships in Swansea on the 17thNovember inst.  There is no stopping this lady and her running continues to go from strength to strength.
Killeavy Classic 5K and 10K
The rain stopped, the clouds rolled back and the sun shone for the Killeavy Classic on Sunday, providing excellent running conditions for all the runners and walkers at this very popular event, which always raises money for great causes, which this year were The Hospice and Ellen’s Journey.
First NCR home was Aine Fegan in a time of 43:02, closely followed by Laura Devine in 44:28, super work as Laura had competed in NIMAA XC Trial 6K the day before.  Next across the line was Attracta Magennis in 51:46, followed by Caoimhe O’Gorman in 52:38 and Paul McConville in 56:13.
Duddy Parr took second place in the 5K event with at time of 20:25 and Gerald Boyle finished off his 18 mile training run for Marathon training, running the last 3.1 miles as support for the Killeavy Classic causes in a time of 30.02 – super running after 15 hard miles.
Armagh 4 miler and 10 miler
The sun was also shining in Armagh, in more ways than one, as all competing had excellent results.
Jennifer McAteer went out to find her ‘mojo’ in the 4 mile race and find it she did, completing the course in 42:39.
Pat Rocks, Patricia Brown, Willie McCracken and Gerard McAleenan had excellent performances in the 10 mile event.
Again official times were not available at time of report.
First NCR across the finish line was Gerard McAleenan in a time of 1:13:14, Patricia Brown 1:14 (First in cateogory), Pat Rocks 1:14(Second in category) and Wille McCracken 1:22:28.
A special shout out to Patricia and Pat as this was on the back of NIMAA XC Trial & Championships the day before!
