NCR Report W/E 14th May 2017

NIMRA Annalong Horseshoe Race

Liz Graham, Stephen O’Neill and Mary Quinn took part in the NIMRA Horseshoe Mountain Race in Annalong, a 14 mile mountain run in tough conditions. All 3 NCR members finished together with Liz finishing in 4:20:34, Stephen in 4:20:37 and Mary in 4:20:41.

Les Jones 10k

Race number 5 in the Novosco Grand Prix was the Les Jones 10k at the Mary Peters track. Roisin Rocks continued her recent excellent form and finished in 44:59  and Anne Travers also finished well in 47:30.

Hill and Dale Series – Race 5, Rocky

Race number 5 in the Hill and Dale series saw runners take on the Rocky Horseshoe, comprising 4 peaks. Duddy Parr was once again the first NCR home in 39:36, while Mike Barnett came home in 45:37 and Shane O’Callaghan in 47:40. Cathal Morgan followed in 50:49 and Frank McKenna in 53:17. Damian McCann finished in 56:35 and Clive Weir in 58:49, while Lorna Murphy, the only female NCR to take on Rocky finished in 1:01:25

3 Lakes 7k

Well done to Michele Mowlds who ran the 3 Lakes 7k race in Downpatrick, finishing in 40:36.

Cooley Coast Run

Well done to Gerald Boyle and Attracta Magennis who took on the Cooley Coast 10km run. Gerald returning from injury finished in 44.07 and Attracta finished in 51.17 and also finished second in her age category.

Mourne Stimulus 5k and 10k

Two members of Newry City Runners took on the Mourne Stimulus 10k in Kilkeel. Mark Clements had an excellent race, finishing with a new PB of 44:21, while Evelyn Marsh also ran well and finished in 1:02:08

Barbara Fleming-Ovens took on the 5k event at this race, and finished in a fantastic 25:22, finishing as first lady and in third place overall.

Belfast marathon relay

Congratulations to the NCR R.I.O.T. and Sisters With Blisters Belfast Relay teams who finished fifth and sixth in the recent Belfast marathon relay.

‘Pace Your Own Race’ NCR Summer series:

A reminder that race number 2 takes place on Thursday 25th May again in Greenbank. In June and July the action moves to Kilboney, then the final two races in August and September return to Greenbank, all on the last Thursday of each month.
