From Achill to Armagh

Well what a busy weekend of running we had this weekend, podium places being earned from lots of our club members at various events.

Faye Sergeant completed the Strangford 10k in a time of 56:27

BALLINCOLLIG, CO.CORK, 5K PARKRUN

Congratulations to NCRs Laura Devine who broke the female course record this weekend with a phenomenal display running a time of 19:42 while her husband Chris won the race in a time of 17:16, congratulations and well done to you both.

ACHILL ISLAND MARATHON

Well done to Don Travers on winning the Achill marathon this weekend over 10 minutes ahead of the 2nd place contender, he also broke the tough course record which has never been broken under 3 hours until this weekend running a fantastic time of 2:57 so huge congratulations to you.

ACHILL ISLAND HALF MARATHON

Well done to Anne Havern taking 2nd place female on Sunday in the Achill island half marathon, running into a strong headwind she managed to run a very respectable 1:49:40. So congratulations on your podium place and its great to see you back on form racing again.

ARMAGH MARATHON DAY 1+2

Huge congratulations go to our member Micheal Dillion on Saturday which was day 1 of the inaugural Armagh marathon, this was Micheals first attempt at running back to back marathons and on the first day he was the winner in a time of 2hrs 59 mins.

With the legs well refreshed overnight he turned up on Sunday morning in temperatures of 22 degrees and ran a 3:14:25 and took 3rd place and is now the holder of the course record.. Congratulations to you Micheal and what a super achievement it was.

ARMAGH MARATHON

Congratulations to Neil Casey (5:24:01), Karen McElroy (4:21:22) and Sean Smith (3:40:22) on running the full marathon also at Armagh. Also congratulations to the three NCR teams that entered the relay event on Sunday. Peter Linden, Duddy Parr, Damian Mulholland and Stephen Caulfield took 3rd place in the relay (2:47:06) while two mixed teams entered comprising of Patricia Brown, Aine Fegan, Aidy Winters and Cathal Morgan (3:08:52) and the elite team of Patricia Mc Mullen, Gerald Boyle, Attracta Magennis and Michael Englishby (3:27:01)..
