Carlingford Half Marathon, Rocky Road, Shane’s Castle and Glenarriffee Mountain Race

Carlingford half marathon and 10k

Despite the inclement weather, there were some excellent performances from NCR at the rescheduled Carlingford half marathon and 10k. Chris Devine took second place in the half marathon with a fantastic finish time of 1:15:56. Bernard Hamill produced a super run to finish with a new PB of 1:28:38 and Brendan McVerry also had an excellent run, finishing in 2:00:39, a personal best by 4 minutes.

In the 10k, Hugh McConnell also produced a fantastic performance to take third place in 40:59. Well done boys, the hard work in training is paying off.


Rocky Road 10k Dromintee

Well done to the NCR members who took part in the Rocky Road 10k in Dromintee. Damien Maguire was first NCR home in 46:25, Damian McCann finished in 53:01 and Attracta Magennis came home in 54:07. Well done everyone on a tough route.


Shane’s Castle half marathon.

Jennifer McAteer took part in the half marathon at Shane’s Castle, a tough multi terrain route, finishing in 2:48:35.


Glenarriffe Mountain Race

Well done to Stephen O’Neill, Liz Graham and Mary Quinn who took part in this tough mountain race in the Glens of Antrim. Including a 362m climb, they also battled the elements in this tough 6 mile run.


Upcoming events

The Newry City Merchants 10k will take place on Thursday 10 May at the Quays Shopping centre, starting at 7.30pm.

This race is a brilliant warm up for the Newry City Merchants half marathon which will take place on Sunday 27th May, starting at Albert Basin at 10am. This will be the flattest fast half in Ireland and a perfect opportunity for a personal best or an ideal first half marathon.
