Belfast Half Smashed & Queen of the Mountain remains

Belfast half marathon

Well done to all NCR members who took part in Belfast City half marathon. First home for NCR was Peter Linden with a fantastic new PB time of 1.22.42. David Fisher followed with 2:02:55 and first NCR female home was Caoimhe Sherry in 2:04:51. Patricia Byrne, along with Peter Simpson doing his first half marathon finished in 2:07:03, Shirley Brannigan finished in 2:07:10,  and Jennifer McAteer finished in 2:33:57.

King of the Mountain, Camlough

A local race now in its 43rd year, the King of the Mountain consists of a climb from Carrickcruppen football pitch to the summit of Camlough mountain and back down. In horrible weather conditions, Aine Fegan continued her reign as Queen of the Mountain, once more finishing as first female, and Eva Kitchen took home second place. Well done also to Damien Maguire, Damian McCann and Frank McKenna who braved the elements to take on this tough route (times not available).

East of Ireland Duleek 10 mile.

Well done to Michael Englishby who took on this very hilly lapped route, finishing in 2nd place in 1:14:05.

XC Masters – Glasgow

Congratulations to Chris Devine who has once again been selected to represent his native Scotland in cross country, having finished 7th overall in the trials and first in his age category.

Rostrevor parkrun

Aidy Winters and Brendan McVerry continued to produce ever improving performances at parkrun this weekend, both producing new PBs. Aidy finished in 22:22 and 2ndin his age category and Brendan finished in 25:29.

Haldane Fisher Duathlon:

NCR and Newry Wheelers are joining forces and supporting our sponsors for the Haldane Fisher Duathlon in Newry on Sunday 24th September in aid of Autism Families Community Support Group.

The Duathlon will begin at Haldane Fishers Newry branch, in Carnbane Industrial Estate at 9.30am. It consists of a 2 mile run, 10-mile cycle, and another 2 mile run. Cost is £20 per entry with team entries £25. Find the link for registration on our Facebook page. Our Plumbmaster branch in Newry will also be sponsoring a family fun day from 9.30am to 3pm including bouncy castles, bungee runs, inflatable slides, arts & crafts, a disco dome and other exciting games. Bridge End Bicycles will also be in attendance on the day, we hope to see you there, save the date!

Club series Pace your Own race

The final race of the year in the club series will take place in Greenbank industrial estate on Thursday 28 October at 6.30pm. Everyone has a chance to win so please come along and give the club support.
