Belfast City Marathon

Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2017:
Following on from the huge success of NCR at last years Belfast City Marathon, both in the relay teams and individual performances, this year on bank holiday Monday in Belfast – proved to be no different.Â
Five relay teams took part (2 ladies and 3 mens) and everyone gave it their absolute best. Aside from positionings and times recorded, the outstanding teamwork and collective support together proved to be the highlight of the day. This is hugely important to the unity of our club, so you can be sure that there will be future relay events on our calendar. Â
NCR Titans 2.39.13, leg 1: Don Travers, leg 2: Gerard Mc Aleenan, leg 3: Christoper Devine, leg 4: Peter Linden, leg 5: Duddy Parr.
NCR Gladiators 2.58.30, leg 1+2 Micheal Dillon, leg 3; Bernard Hamill, leg 4: James Hughes, leg 5: Stephen O’Neill.
NCR Spartans 2.57.59, leg 1+2: Damian Mulholland, leg 3: Cathal Morgan, leg 4: David Love, leg 5: Michael Englishby.
NCR R.I.O.T (Running Is Our Therapy) 3.13.19, leg 1: Roisin Rocks, leg 2: Anne Travers, leg 3: Eva Kitchen and legs 4+5: Aine Fegan.
NCR Sisters with Blisters 3.33.07, leg 1: Patricia Mc Mullen, leg 2: Andrea Mc Cann, leg 3: Deirdre Kelly leg 4: Karen Mc Elroy, leg 5: Jackie Gilbey.
Also well done to club members Jennifer Mc Ateer, Sharon Maginn and Michele Mowlds who ran in mixed relay teams on the day.
Two super sub-three marathons by Don Travers (2.50) and Micheal Dillon (2.57). Not an easy task comsidering both were also running on the relay teams. Also well done to Mark Copeland coming in at 4.40.
Hill & Dales Race No. 4: Binnian.
All up-hill this 2 mile race climbed 2,000 ft. A difficult climb but amazing views await the finish line at the top. Well done to the following members who were brave enough! ‘Festival of Miles – Mary Peters Track.
On Friday evening 5th May the annual Ni Running festival of miles took place at the Belfast Mary Peters Track. Mile times as follows: Gerard Mc Aleenan, 5.39.56, Anne Travers, 6.40.31.
Killian Doherty races:
At Drumquinn, well done to everyone who participated in the various runs. In the full marathon Mark Copeland came in at 4.58.00. In the half marathon both Attracta Magennis and Barbara Fleming-Ovens crossed the line at 1.56.27 with Karen Mc Elroy not far behind in 2.02.05. Jennifer Mc Ateer 2.50. In the 10k, Michael Englishby finished in a time of 47.17, Collette Mc Caul 54.21 and Janine Burns 1.06.29.Â
‘Pace Your Own Race’ NCR Summer series:
 
A reminder that race number 2 takes place on Thursday 25th May again in Greenbank. In June and July the action moves to Kilboney, then the final two races in August and September return to Greenbank, all on the last Thursday of each month.
