Run Forest Run Castlewellan

Run Forest Run Castlewellan

There was a good turnout from Newry City Runners once more at the final race in Castlewellan in the Run Forest Run series, where even bitterly cold conditions didn’t deter the runners. In the 5k, Patricia Brown continued her fantastic performance throughout the series, finishing as 2nd female in 21:38 and also won her age category for the 5k series.

In the 10k, Deirdre Kelly finished well in 51:13, Damian McCann was not too far behind in 54:44. The ever improving Evelyn Marsh came home in 56:39, having completed all 8 races in under 60 minutes and Tracey Ruane also finished well coming in at 59:15. Well done everyone, especially to Patricia Brown and Evelyn Marsh who completed all 8 races in the series.

Well done also to Robbie Marsh who was named Volunteer of the Series.

NI and Ulster XC Championships

Well done to Roisin Rocks who continued her great recent form in cross country, taking part in the NI and Ulster Championships, finishing in 28:37.

Half Marathon? Snow ❄ problem!
Due to widespread snow we have only one race to report on, Kirkistown Half Marathon on Sunday 4th March. Don Travers was the clear winner (unofficial time 1:18) in this 9 lap circuit race slightly over 13.4 miles so longer than a usual half marathon, and in extreme cold windy conditions.
